Tuesday Oct. 19, 2010 Gentlemen:
Heading into next season, we still have a potential situation regarding ball players parking in the neighboring sub-division on streets like Ryder Crescent, Tiller St. and Boyd Crescent. Last week, a few members of the Executive attended a meeting with town officials, which also included Derek Hannan, Manager of By-law Services. We were informed that residents of Ryder Cres. signed a petition (with over 100 signatures) which was presented to city council expressing their concern over cars parking on their streets. This constitutes the majority of residents as Ryder only has 70 homes. Over the course of the summer, Derek and his team had over 50 hrs. of surveillance on Ryder Cres. observing and documenting all occurrences. (Not to mention ticketing numerous cars for parking violations) All of which, by the way, occurred while AMSA had permits issued for the Sportsplex. Although, there was a vast improvement towards the end of the summer (which the town expressed to city council as well) there is still much concern. The town has made it abundantly clear that the residents come first before permit holders. As a league, we have been put on notice that if this continues, the town will revoke our permits. The Town has requested and we will be preparing documentation for the town outlining our past attempts as well as our future plans to stop the undesirable conduct of our membership. Therefore, to further prevent and alleviate the situation next year, the AMSA will also monitor this location and any player caught parking on Ryder Cres. or any of the surrounding streets will be automatically expelled from the league (with the exception of documented residents only). This will be a ZERO TOLERANCE policy! The AMSA has over 650 players, and to jeopardize our permits over the actions of a few players will not be tolerated.
The league looks forward to your continued co-operation.
Thank you AMSA Executive.

URGENT NOTICE TO ALL BALL PLAYERS......PLEASE READ Some of the residents of Ryder Crest. and adjoining streets are fed up with baseball players jamming up the street with parked cars, having players changing in or out of uniforms on the street, and drinking around the cars. Ball players should be using the SportsPlex parking lot. The Town has received numerous Complaints, and Town Council is now monitoring this issue. We ( the AMSA ) have been given one FINAL opportunity to STOP OUR PLAYERS FROM PARKING IN THAT COMMUNITY. If we cannot resolve this issue, the TOWN will REVOKE our permits. Durham Police and By-Law Services have been asked to increase their patrols in this area. We ask that all team reps pass this message on to their players. AMSA Executive |
